James married Mary EDWARDS on 22 Dec 1768 in St Thomas, Portsmouth.

They had the following children:

	3	M	ii	Samuel CHEESMAN was christened on 17 Oct 1773 in St Thomas, Portsmouth. He died before 1781.
	4	F	iii	Mary CHEESMAN was christened on 3 Apr 1774 in St Thomas, Portsmouth. She was buried on 24 Apr 1776.
	5	M	iv	John CHEESMAN was christened on 20 Apr 1777 in St Thomas, Portsmouth.
	6	M	v	Thomas CHEESMAN was christened on 30 Aug 1778 in St Thomas, Portsmouth.
	7	F	vi	Ann CHEESMAN was christened on 18 Jun 1780 in St Thomas, Portsmouth.
	8	M	vii	Samuel CHEESMAN was born on 3 Dec 1781. He was christened on 25 Dec 1781 in St Thomas, Portsmouth. He died before 1787.
+	9	M	viii	Samuel George CHEESMAN was christened on 20 Jun 1787. He died in Apr 1853.
